Hansel and Gretel - two medieval tenement houses at the north-west corner of the Wrocław market square, connected by an arcade. Built most likely in the 15th century, they were then part of a larger group of altarists' houses in the parish church of St. Elizabeth. Between the tenement houses, under the arcade, there was an entrance to a cemetery closed down in the 18th century, as recalled by the inscription on the cartouche "Mors Ianua Vitae" - "Death is the gate of life". There used to be a gate in this gate.
