The Calle Sagárnaga is one of the traditional thoroughfares of the city of La Paz, seat of government of Bolivia. It is located in the San Sebastián neighborhood, which is part of the Central Urban Area of u200bu200bthe city and is part of the Central Macrodistrict.
Named in honor of Juan Bautista Sagárnaga, a hero of the La Paz Revolution, the street was designed as part of the first urban layout with European characteristics that was implemented in the sector after the founding of the city. Thus, it forms part of the most consolidated part of the checkerboard-shaped urban layout that characterized the cities of the New World planned by the Spanish.
