Lucy (Australopithecus)

Description

Lucy (AL 288-1) er tilnavnet til et av de mest kjente og komplette fossile eksemplarene av førmennesker i slekten Australopithecus. Hun tilhørte arten Australopithecus afarensis, som eksisterte i minst 900 000 år, og ble funnet i 1974 i Awash-dalen i Etiopia. Fossilet er oppkalt etter Beatles-sangen «Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds», men berømmelsen skyldes at hun er et enestående funn.
