Context of प्राचीन यूनान

प्राचीन यूनानी सभ्यता उस संस्कृति को कहते हैं जो यूनान और उसके नज़दीकी क्षेत्रों में लगभग आठवी शताब्दी ईसा-पूर्व से लगभग छठी शताब्दी इसाई तक (यानि क़रीब 1,200 वर्षों तक) विस्तृत थी। आधुनिक पश्चिमी संस्कृतियों की सब से गहरी जड़ इसी सभ्यता को माना जाता है, इसलिए पश्चिमी इतिहासकारों के लिए यूनानी सभ्यता हमेशा बहुत महत्वपूर्ण रही है। माना जाता है के इस सभ्यता के बाद आने वाले रोमन साम्राज्य पर प्राचीन यूनान का गहरा असर था और उस साम्राज्य और संस्कृति के कई पहलुओं में यूनानी संस्कृति की छाप देखी जा सकती है।
