Museu Arqueològic José María Soler

The Municipal Archaeological Museum of Villena, (Alt Vinalopó) officially Museo Arqueológico José María Soler (in Spanish Museo Arqueológico José María Soler) it is located on the ground floor of the Palau Municipal, a Renaissance building from the beginning of the xvi century. It was inaugurated in 1957 to house the archaeological findings gathered by José María Soler García during the more than forty years of his work in Villena and its surroundings. The existing funds make it possible to get to know the Alt Vinalopó region, from the Palaeolithic to the xx century, with pieces from Biar, Beneixama, the Camp de Mirra , the Canyon of Biar, Cabdet, Salines, Saix and Villena.

After the discovery in 1963 of the Tresor de Villena, it was officially recognized in 1967 by Ministerial Order at the request of the City Council.
