Marmellar is a depopulated village located in the municipality of Montmell in the Baix Penedès region and is located at an altitude of 532 meters. The first indications of Marmellar date from the year 1023 where the castle of Marmellar is also mentioned. The town used the water that flowed from the Marmellar creek, which is currently dry.
According to the parish archive, the population of Marmellar in 1717 was 65 and 59 in 1787. From the 1860 census, the census was carried out in Santa Maria of Bisbal del Penedès, where in 1970 there were 26 inhabitants. According to the chronicles, in 1976 a fire ravaged the area and a short time later the village was abandoned.
In 1993 the discovery of a dead girl fueled the legends and myths about this town.
