Castillo de Torrechiara

Castello di Torrechiara

( Castillo de Torrechiara )

The Torrechiara Castle is located on the Torrechiara hill, very close to the town of Langhirano (Italy) and about 18 km from the city of Parma. Its elevated position overlooks the Parma river valley, between the city and the nearby mountains.[1]u200b

Since its construction, between 1448 and 1460, it served not only as a defensive structure, but also as a palace for Count Pier Maria II de Rossi and his mistress, Bianca Pellegrini Arluno.

It is considered one of the best-preserved examples of castle architecture in Italy, combining medieval and Italian Renaissance elements. Its best-known room is the so-called Camera d'Oro, decorated with frescoes by the Italian painter Benedetto Bembo.
