Description

The Registan (อุซเบก: Регистон, Registon) เป็นหัวใจของเมืองโบราณของ Samarkand แห่ง Timurid Empire ซึ่งปัจจุบันอยู่ในอุซเบกิสถาน ชื่อ Rēgistan (Rēgistan) หมายถึง "ที่ทราย" หรือ "ทะเลทราย" ในภาษาเปอร์เซีย

Registan เป็นจัตุรัสสาธารณะที่ซึ่งผู้คนมารวมตัวกันเพื่อฟังพระราชดำรัสประกาศโดยเสียงระเบิดบนท่อทองแดงขนาดมหึมาที่เรียกว่า dzharchis และสถานที่ประหารชีวิตในที่สาธารณะ ล้อมรอบด้วยมัสยิดสามแห่ง (โรงเรียนอิสลาม) ที่มีสถาปัตยกรรมอิสลามที่โดดเด่น จัตุรัสแห่งนี้ถือเป็นศูนย์กลางของยุคฟื้นฟูศิลปวิทยา Timurid
