The Kawachi Fuji Gardens or Kawachi Wisteria Gardens are located in a city in Japan called Kitakyushu. This is located in the Fukuoka prefecture, within the island of Kyushu.

It is a private site, and therefore tourists must pay the entrance fee. In low season admission costs 300 yen and in high season it goes up to 900 yen.

The best time of year to visit this tourist site is at the end of April and beginning of May because on these dates, for approximately 20 days, a great spectacle of color and intoxicating aromas can be seen. In this type of plant you can see around 20 species. The most recognized are:

  • Wisteria sinensis, originally from China
  • Wisteria floribunda, the "wisteria of Japan".

From Tokyo it takes 5 hours to reach the gardens if you take the Nozomi high-speed train.
