Babutxa

The slippers are a type of footwear typical of the Arab world.

They consist of a light shoe open at the heel and finished with a point. Slippers are for both men and women. They are made of leather or plastic and come in a wide variety of designs and decorations: sequined, striped, colored, etc. Slippers are a typical handicraft product of some countries such as Morocco where there is a great tradition in leatherwork.

Babutses can be purchased in a wide variety of designs in the souks of the main cities.

In the peninsula, they are worn as part of Arab costumes, for example in the representations of Moors and Christians held in the Valencian Country.
